You review every result before it is saved.
01
Pick an item and add photos
Open any asset and choose Assess condition. A short guide shows which shots help for that item type, such as the data label, an overall view and any problem area.
02
AI checks it against a checklist
Each item type has its own checks. The AI marks what it can see, says so when it can’t see something, and notes anything that needs attention.
03
You review and adjust
See the score, findings and suggested tasks. Change the grade if you disagree, untick anything that looks wrong, and confirm.
04
It is saved to the item’s history
The Condition card on the asset keeps every assessment, and Steadwell suggests reassessing after a year.

Honest about what photos can show
A grade is only useful if you can trust where it came from.
It says when it can’t see
If a photo does not show something, that check is marked Can’t see instead of guessed, and Steadwell tells you which photo would help.
Serious concerns cap the grade
The score comes from the checklist, so one critical concern limits how high an item can score, however good the rest looks.
You stay in control
Nothing is saved until you confirm. You can override the score, and both the AI grade and yours are kept.
Not a professional inspection
When something looks like it needs a licensed pro, the assessment says so.

Common questions
Is this a home inspection?
No. A condition assessment is an AI-assisted estimate from photos. It helps you decide what to watch, maintain or budget for, and it says when a licensed professional should take a look. It is not a substitute for a professional inspection.
How does Steadwell grade an item?
Each item type has its own checklist, such as the anode rod and tank base on a water heater or the shingles and flashing on a roof. The AI checks what it can see in your photos against that list and marks each check OK, Watch, Concern or Can’t see. The score is then calculated from the checklist, so one serious concern limits how high the grade can go.
What photos should I take?
Steadwell shows a short guide for each item type, usually the data label, an overall shot, and any area you are worried about. You can add up to six photos, and notes such as a past leak or a new noise. JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC photos all work.
Does it change my records automatically?
No. You review every result first. If the label in your photos shows a different model, serial number or install date than your record, Steadwell offers the correction as a ticked suggestion and saves it only when you confirm. Suggested tasks work the same way: you choose which ones to add.
Can I override the score?
Yes. If you disagree with the AI’s grade you can change it, add a reason, and Steadwell keeps both numbers in the history.
How many assessments do I get?
Plus includes 5 assessments a month and Pro includes 25. Only successful assessments count; if something fails, the photos are unclear, or the item turns out to be a different type than you picked, it is not counted against your limit.
What happens to my photos?
Your photos are stored privately in your account and sent securely to a third-party AI service to produce the assessment, as described in our Privacy Policy. Steadwell does not use them to train AI.
How often should I reassess something?
About once a year, or after a storm, a repair or a change you notice. Steadwell keeps the full history for each item and suggests a fresh assessment after twelve months.
Is condition assessment available on the free plan?
Condition assessments are included with Plus and Pro. The free plan still tracks every item, its warranty, recalls and maintenance.
